 VALLE ROMANO GOLF & RESORT, A PLACE TO LIVE AND BREATHE GOLF THE GOLF COUNTRY The complex covers 122 hectares, and has been designed and built with the utmost attention to detail, especially as regards respecting the environment and ensuring efficient use of available energy resources. Furthermore, it is the chosen site of prominent professional golfers, such as Seve Ballesteros, he has decided to live and play on this impressive 18-hole golf course designed by Cabell B. Robinson.
The complex also boasts a Club House; a prestigious Golf School with bilingual teachers, Pro Shop and restaurant. Thus, it has a shopping area and green spaces very pampered.
The Golf Country. Valle Romano is unique, due to its design, geographical location and sustainability model. Not only does it comply with current environmental regulations, its design also priorities the conservation of as much of the natural landscape as possible, so that the local vegetation can serve as a shelter and refuge for native flora and fauna. It is an exceptional 18-hole course, built in accordance with the strictest quality standards established by the United States Golf Association of America, with “Tifsport” lawns certified by the University of Georgia and a highly sophisticated watering system which uses the very latest technology. Valle Romano was created by Cabell B. Robinson, one of the world’s most respected golf course designers and the genius behind many prestigious courses in Spain, France, Morocco, Switzerland, Portugal, Cyprus and Italy. The course is ready to enter the European Circuit, with fairways designed to adapt to players of all levels and large, spacious greens. Robinson has designed a 54 hectare course, located in the gentlest part of the complex which ranges between level 1.16 and level 50. One of the aims of the course is to enable all kinds of players, from the lowest to the highest handicaps, to enjoy a good game. To this end, the course has an average of 5 tee platforms per hole and large, spacious greens (mean size: 500 m2, although some are as large as 1,000 m2). The greens, which have long, gentle drops with high quality flag positions, mean that each and every hole on the course can be either very easy or extremely challenging.
The fact that the course adapts to all levels, coupled with its excellent maintenance, unbeatable facilities, privileged setting (all holes have sea views) and committed staff, makes it the ideal place for organizing any type of competition. Ildefonso Esquivel, Valle Romano Golf director affirms “the client comes and repeats ones and again, because he is very satisfied and loves the golf country”. Since September 2011 the fan page Facebook Valle Romano Golf has a new booking system: Green Fees on line. “The aim is to channel the number of green fee bookings via the Internet by taking advantage of the time spent by users on our social networks” says Ildefonso Esquivel, the manager at Valle Romano Golf. “Now the customer has a channel open 24 hours a day via which they can make their bookings comfortably whenever it suits them best.”
The Valle Romano Golf Course in Estepona, Costa del Sol, is a pampered course in terms of its design with its own personality, while at the same time remaining natural. A good example of this personality is that the 18 holes constitute a tribute to our champions, men and women golfers who have written many chapters in the history of Spanish golf with their triumphs. Their names will always be recalled at Valle Romano, with all our gratitude and fondness.
The Valle Romano golf academy offers a wide variety of programs designed to meet the needs of both experienced players and beginners, and uses the best teaching techniques and programs available in the golfing world. The pro Gabriel Cañizares is, since September 2011, the new Technical Manager at the Valle Romano Golf School. Cañizares supervise and act in an advisory capacity on the golf methodology and techniques being taught to students. “I am proud to be able to form part of this project and will do everything possible to make sure that Valle Romano is a reference point in the world of golf on the Costa del Sol”, Gabriel Cañizares says. Its broad-ranging offer includes intensive one-week courses, specific putting and short game courses, VIP courses, clinics and private lessons, among others. Special attention is also paid to children, with monthly courses held on Saturday mornings, and intensive summer courses. The entire practice area is floodlit, with both covered and grass bays.
Valle Romano Golf & Resort has equipped its installations with full state-of-the-art medical equipment, which includes 40 buggies with GPS an ambulance buggy and a semi-automatic defibrillator, and an interphone placed in hole 8 connected to the Restaurant at the Club House. Ildefonso Esquivel, the course manager, says that the GPS “have focused on two aspects: on the one hand, this constitutes another improvement in terms of the service we are offering over our competitors and, on the other, provides us with very specific operative control on a day-to-day basis. The buggy ambulance is already available at the Club House and is an ideal vehicle for use at events attended by large numbers of people, at sports stadia, exhibition sites, factories, airports and golf courses. This ambulance car is equipped with lights, compartments for first aid kits, electrocardiographs and drip supports, among other special requirements. It runs on a four stroke petrol engine. For its part, the semi-automatic defibrillator has also been placed at a strategic point in the Club House. This is a piece of technical equipment that is officially approved for use in accordance with current legislation, and is capable of analyzing heart rate, identify fatal arrhythmia and administer electric shocks in order to re-establish a viable heart rate with high levels of safety. A wooden booth has been placed on the green at hole 8 with an interphone that has a direct line to the restaurant, enabling a snack to be requested without interrupting play.
